Big Brother 27 Week 1 Recap: Zae Gets Clipped, Jimmy Cries Again, and Ava Loses Her Damn Mind

July 18, 2025

Man… what a mess. Zae’s out, Jimmy’s still in the house crying into a throw pillow, and half the dudes are leaking tears like the pathetic tropical depression weather we had yesterday. If Week 1 is a preview of the season, hopefully the big 'twist' of the season is that Julie sends in a therapist into the house to console these crybabies.

Let’s break down how Vince fumbled the bag, why Zae is heading home, and why the house is one more group hug away from turning into a middle school drama club.

🧢 Vince’s HOH: An Absolute Disasterclass

Vince wins HOH and thinks he’s about to mastermind the game. Spoiler alert: he’s not. His plan? Nominate Zae, Amy, and Ashley. Okay… why?

Ashley wins veto and saves herself, so Vince has a golden opportunity to fix it. And what does he do? Does he throw Jimmy on the block, the same guy who’s been crying, snitching, and stirring up drama like a Real Housewife of Baton Rouge? Nope. Vince puts up Kelley, his own ally, just to look like he’s “strategic.”

My guy. That ain’t strategy. That’s self-sabotage with a side of BB self-sabotage.

❌ Amy Should’ve Been the One to Go

Let’s be real. Amy is tight with Rachel Reilly, and everyone knows Rachel doesn’t play – she dominates. Keeping Amy in the game is like handing Rachel a free vote and a warm-up comp partner.

If Vince had any sense, he would've used that veto meeting to send a message: “I’m not letting Rachel stack the house.” Instead, Amy floats through Week 1 like it’s a spa day, and Rachel's alliance gets stronger. Smooth move, bro.

👑 Zae vs. Rachel: The Dumbest Move of Week 1

Now let’s talk about Zae. This man really stood on eviction night and said Rachel ain’t winning again. In front of the whole house. On live TV. I applaud him for the guts it take to do that, but that evil look in Rachel's eye spoke volumes.

Bro… If you come at the queen, you best not miss.

And Zae didn’t just miss—he shot the ball over the backboard, knocked out a ceiling tile, and hit a production assistant. It was bad. Rachel blinked twice, activated the BB Bat Signal, and the entire house flipped the vote.

Say what you want about Rachel, but she’s not gonna let some dude that's been in the house for a grand total of 7 days to bury her game. She sent him packing faster than Tommy rage-quitting the podcast after hearing himself echo.

😭 Crybaby Central

And now, the part that truly broke me: the crying. Zach cried so hard at eviction I thought he was about to dedicate a spoken word poem to Zae. That speech was so awkward I had to leave the room for a minute and regroup.

Jimmy? Still crying. Keanu? Probably crying. Even the Have-Not room looked sad.

I sat there watching these grown men cry over alliances like a disappointed dad watching his sons lose a little league game. “Wipe your face. It’s Big Brother, not The Notebook.”

You know what this cast needs? More Will. The podcast dad. Get that man on the show. Will wouldn’t cry—he’d run the grill, win HOH, and make everyone do yard work.

😵 Ava. Please.

And then there’s Ava. What a train wreck… She gives off the vibes of the annual houseguest that thinks she's the puppet master controlling everyone, but she's just the weirdo whispering to the camera. She’s spiraling so hard she might tunnel through the backyard wall. She's pacing like she’s waiting on lab results, crying in corners… she’s unraveling faster than the Saints' playoff hopes.

Get her a juice box and a seat. Somebody check her Fitbit—she’s probably hit 30,000 steps just from pacing.

...and throw that Russian Ushanka hat in the trash. Her style is absolutely ridiculous.

💭 Final Thoughts from the Group Chat Dad Chair

Zae went home because he ran his mouth too early and aimed at the wrong person. Vince blew his HOH trying to do too much and ended up doing nothing. Amy skated. Rachel’s chilling. Jimmy’s soaking wet from his own tears. Ava’s… not okay. And I’m just sitting here shaking my head like a dad who told y’all not to touch the thermostat—and now the house is on fire.

Verdict:

- Vince: Fumbled the whole week.

- Zae: Talked himself out the door.

- Amy: Will do whatever Rachel asks her to do.

- Rachel: Still the queen.

- Jimmy: Softest launch since the Apple Vision Pro.

- Zach: Probably still crying.

- Ava: Someone send help.

- Will: He needs more TV time.

Catch y’all next week on The Group Chat Podcast, where we’ll break down more BB drama and more grown men crying so much it's making the Diary Room wetter than my rain-soaked front yard right now.
