Live Round by Round Coverage of the Jake Paul vs JC Chavez, Jr fight tonight

Live Commentary by the Group Chat Podcast.

Final Scorecards:

99-91, 97-93, 98-92 - all for your winner, the biggest heel in combat sports... JAKE PAUL

Post fight (Pre-Announcement) Paul is not ready for the next level of competition JCC landed 60 punches total, 40 of which were in the last 3 rounds. JCC did not train for this bout, his conditioning wasn't good enough and that may be the reason he lost this fight Round 10: Paul facing adversity for the first time all night JCC pressing the action, Paul is in reverse JCC waited too long, he was not confident in his conditioning. Paul said he was going to KO JCC cause Canelo didn't do it, not happening. Paul holding on and trying to see the final bell, not from being hurt he is gassed. Paul is about to pass out, JCC lands shot and Paul holds on JCC 10, Paul 9 (Paul wins the bout on our cards 7-3) Round 9: No one can mistake this bout for an actual boxing match. This ref should be calling an AAU basketball game, Again, Jake Paul landing slow body shots standing directly in front of JCC and is not suffering any repercussions from it... JCC being a great punching bag, Paul is starting to gas out. JCC lands good right hand followed by upper cut. JCC lands another clean right hand... WE GOT A FIGHT!!

JCC 10, Paul 9 (Paul leads 7 rounds to 2)

Round 8: JCC finally fighting like he is alive. Paul's size is taking its tole on JCC, lot of holding and leaning by Paul Slow combo's from Paul but JCC not moving. Paul throws those shots against someone with a pulse and he is going to sleep.

Good inside action at the 1:00 minute mark. Both fighters significantly slowing down

Paul throwing an uppercut from way far out... JCC could counter into something nasty if he cared. Close round but Paul landed the cleaner shots, Paul 10, JCC 9 (7-1, Jake Paul)

Round 7:

Both guys wearing down, JCC moving with alot more confidence.

Paul ties up JCC anytime he get hit. JCC pressing the action, Paul content with backing up.

Nice uppercut by Paul, JCC thought he was going to the body. Tells us that the body work is taking its tole.

Crowd not happy with Paul and the amount of holding he is doing. Any concern for Paul going 10 rounds? Has only done it once before. Not much action, but Paul did more of nothing. Paul 10, JCC 9 (Jake Paul up 6 rounds to 1)

Round 6: JCC;s corner telling him that Jake Paul is done, IDK if these dudes are watching TikTok during the fight. Paul lands a combo to the body which says alot about his experience. If he is fighting someone that he can't pay to not punch he would get destroyed in a situation like that, Solid body work by Paul, he will push the action soon to get him out of there. JCC lands a solid hook with Paul backed up to the ropes. JCC best round so far, he did have some success with Paul's back against the ropes. Nice back and forth exchange to end the round, JCC may have got the better end, Judges will be looking to give a round to JCC, so am I, JCC 10, Paul 9 (5 rounds to 1 for Jake Paul Round 5: JCC finally showing life and Paul forces a clinch. JCC is leaping in, not setting anything up, looking to land 1 shot at a time. Accidental low blow by JCC, ref tells Paul that it was his own fault. Fans just happy to see JCC throw a punch. 14 years ago JCC won the WBC middleweight title, which is why this fight is happening. Sanctioning bodies get a reason to rank Paul, Paul still doesn't have to fight anyone with a win in this decade,.

More body work by Paul, JCC lands a headbutt, Not much going on this round Paul 5, JCC 0 (Paul up 5-0) Round 4: Paul out the gates very aggressive again. Pop shotting JCC at this point. Paul laying the foundation for a stoppage by investing into the body of JCC early and often. This fight is not going the distance. JCC will have to take a chance and Paul will make him pay. JCC Sr, yelling like a fool for his son to stop being a punching bag.. or at least that was my Spanish translation.

Easy bout to score so far, one fighter landing punches and the other isn't. Paul 10, JCC 9 (4 rounds to 0)

Round 3:

JCC's trainer urging his fighting to throw punches. Paul opens up the round by being very active. Paul starting to move forward and with more confidence. JCC, still doing nothing but doing a great impression of being a punching bag.

There is no way that JCC is not getting paid to throw this fight. His punch output is zero. JCC finally throws a punch! A left hook lands to the jaw of Jake Paul. Paul 10, JCC 9

Paul up 3 rounds to 0 Round 2: Tarver just realized that Paul landed a right hand in the opening round. JCC did not land a single punch in the opening round.

The ref paused the bout due to Paul having too much Vaseline on his face, bruh!

JCC doing absolutely NOTHING! Paul staying somewhat busy.

Crowd now boo'ing JCC, follows that up by throwing 1/2 of a jab Paul starting to land his jab, also a solid left hook to pin JCC against the ropes momentarily.

Paul 10, JCC 9

Round 1:

Someone come get Antonio Tarver off my TV, dude sounds like a mumbling moron Slow start with JCC being slightly more aggressive with the job.

Paul looking a bit like a fish out of water so far, both guys do not look like they belong in the cruiserweight class. Paul lands the first flush punch of the fight with a clean over hand right. JCC not doing much, kinda like he was paid to not punch. Paul lands a flurry at the end to EASILY take the opening round

Paul 10, JCC 9 Pre-Fight I don't think Antonio Tarver (commentator) has ever actually watched Jake Paul fight. Jake Paul took this fight due to 2 sanctioning bodies pretty much promising him a top 10 ranking with a win. Record boxing crowd tonight at the Toyota Center. In all honestly for someone with only 11 professional bouts this is big step in class against a worn out opponent who doesn't have much at all of an armature background. Jake Paul is getting boo'd out of the building during the intro's. Very pro-Mexican crowd tonight.

Predictions:

Damien - Paul wins a decision and scores a couple of knockdowns during the duration of the bout.

Casey - Paul wins via lopsided decision; knocks down Chavez late. Chavez is taking this fight strictly for the payday.

Nick - I really think JCCJR with a UD, but these Jake Paul fights never make any sense

Bets:

Casey - Jake Paul to win with a hedge for him to win via knockout. FanDuel has a 50% profit bonus.

Nick - JCC to win and land 100 punches at +1300

Undercard Results:

43 year old Holly Holm (34-2-3, 9 KOs) put the first blemish on the the record of Yolanda Guadalupe Vega Ochoa (10-1, 1 KOs) of Mexico via shutout decision victory over 10 rounds. This was Holm’s first boxing match since 2013, she has participated in multiple UFC bouts.
