🔮 THE GROUP CHAT PREDICTIONS:
Let’s just say… the Group Chat Podcast crew approached this NBA Finals like they were picking lottery numbers: confidently and blindly.
Damien's Pick: Thunder in 5
Bold move by Damien, also known as "Coach I Only Watch Film from 2004." Damien says the Thunder will finish this in five and mentioned something about "young legs and old money." He’s probably already made custom Thunder championship T-shirts with Lu Dort’s face on them. Damien also guaranteed a Zion comeback in 2023, so... yeah.
Jarreau’s Pick: Thunder in 5
Jarreau might’ve just copied Damien’s homework. He says Indiana is “cooked.” But this is the same man who called coaching girls basketball the “easy way out,” only to get smoked in AAU summer ball by three 8th graders with braces and a TikTok account. Take it with a grain of Popeye’s seasoning salt.
Casey’s Pick: Thunder in 6
The voice of reason. Casey says Indy will push OKC at home, which means he’s either a basketball savant or just tired of being yelled at by the rest of the crew. He also still thinks Mike Malone is getting hired by the Knicks and that Coach K is a confirmed racist — so he walks a fine line between genius and headline-maker.
Nick’s Predicted Pick: Pacers in 6
Why? Because Nick is the king of chaos. He’s the type to bet on a baseball team that’s down 8 in the ninth just for the payout. He likes Halliburton. He doesn’t trust the Thunder. And he probably thinks Rick Carlisle’s bald spot holds playoff wisdom. He’s going contrarian all the way.
Tommy’s Predicted Pick: Thunder in 5
Tommy’s logic is simple: As much as he HATES the team that tried to steal basketball from NOLA and everything SGA stands for, he's gotta bet with the favorite, sound confident, and yell if he's wrong. He loves Haliburton and Mathurin, has the utmost admiration for TJ McConnell (and his lunch pail mentality, high bball IQ, relentless motor, etc), and think Rick Carlisle is underrated, but Tommy’s not here to predict. He’s here to declare.
📝 FINAL THOUGHTS:
No matter how it shakes out, this Finals has already been a win for basketball purists. Ball movement, hustle, defense, no superteams, no “load management.” Just two hungry teams built from the ground up.
But let’s be honest — the real drama isn’t on the court.
It’s in the Group Chat.
Where five guys argue like they’ve all coached Game 7 of the NBA Finals… but couldn’t make a layup in flip-flops if their life depended on it.
